> hello guys... I wanted to get other guys advice out there who dance or have taken ballet in the past.....I am a guy in my 40's and started group and private ballet lessons for well over a year now and I feel I have hit a wall here. My barre work has improved greatly though I still need to work on small technical things like getting higher on my toes and better posture..BUT my center work is really frustrating for me. When I go to center I get a brainlock on how to flow from one step to another..it does not seem to come natural for me..my leaps are weak..pirrouttes and just the steps from one movement to another. I am over think myself in center and get stuck. I practice at home he best I can at small barre..but without the traveling space it is hard to perfect more involved combonations..
> Is it just age or lack of natural ability to dance ballet? I am in very very good shape and I think all my years of gym have made my body too muscular and lumbering to be graceful on the dance floor....
> Hence I am not sure if I should continue to beat myself up over trying to learn ballet.. is it too late to be flexable and have the memory recall needed for ballet?
> any thoughts would be appreciated

Get to a public class for adult beginnners - like you I started with private and now go once a week with other adult beginners - still have a 1 hour coaching session a week - beats doing e.mails and getting stressed at work ! Enjoy
